[personal profile] paganpaul posting in [community profile] qtxpost
I just sent out a very simple post to DW and LJ through QTXpost.

On DW the post appeared once, as is the plan (http://paganpaul.dreamwidth.org/139713.html)

On LJ it appeared twice (http://paganpaul.livejournal.com/536571.html , http://paganpaul.livejournal.com/536648.html)

I only saw 1 post confirmation for LJ. When I edit the latest post through QTXpost, I get this:

LiveJournal: connecting...
Dreamwidth: connecting...
http://paganpaul.livejournal.com/536571.html
http://paganpaul.dreamwidth.org/139713.html

So officially the post returned the first one, but behind the curtain something went wrong and a double post appeared. I will leave the second post (http://paganpaul.livejournal.com/536648.html) online for a while if you care to check. If you don't need that, let me know and I will remove it, as this looks so dumb.

Is there a way to dump some kind of logging so you can have a closer look at what happens?

Thanks for the report! You can remove the duplicate post. I did add a precaution against that, starting from 0.2.5, apparently it doesn't help :( so will have to look further... I'll think how to enable the debugging in a user-friendly way (or you can recompile it with uncommenting some qDebug() stuff in ServerLj and defines in qxmlrpc/httpclient.h, but I guess that would be kind of annoying)

But then, every post to DW would've been duplicated on LJ - and as far as I understood, duplicate posting didn't happen every time?

(LOL, I knew that DW has a crossposting option too, but it had never occurred to me to warn the users against using both - proves I'm useless with testing...)

Looked at ljprotocol code, LJ also appears to have a protection against duplicate posts :) Didn't check all the details but I suppose it had worked when both requests came very close to each other, so LJ ignored the 2nd one; but when the 2nd request arrived a bit later, when the 1st was fully completed, they both got through.

Let's hope :)

Could it be Dreamwidth crossposter doing the second crosspost? If you've set to crosspost to LJ by default, then posting to DW from a client will still do the crosspost.

And thanks from me, too!! was so sure that it's something I did wrong, never occurred to me to think outside of the box ;)

weird...
I've noted the same phenomon with Xpostulate.
The issue must be on the LJ server end.
LJ basically sucks, now, anyway.
Some servers are fickle.
I also notice that posts sometimes appear on Scribbld, sometimes don't, and the same happens with Tumblr (which isn't an LJ clone, but works with a simpler API, more like Twitter API or old LJ flat posting).

oh wait...yeah, that's probably my issue.
I had crossposting to LJ turned on from baldwinsoftware.com/blog (a WordPress installation, with some LJ xposting plugin).
I need to turn off all the auto-xposting stuff I have on, because I'm ending up with multiple posts on some services due to the automatical stuff when I start xposting with xpostulate.
